The Construction Industry Council was reminded of the importance of their contribution to the Fijian economy.
Speaking at the CIC Conference in Suva, Governor of the Reserve Bank Ariff Ali says the industry generates employment opportunities and income from both the formal and informal sectors.
Ali says the construction industry plays a pivotal role in boosting any economy but most importantly it links with other sectors.

“We at the reserve bank think that the construction industry is very important to the economy. It is the building blocks of the economy. It is a sign of confidence and we look at the construction industry very carefully.”
Ali says the total number of people employed directly to the construction industry is close to twelve thousand.
