uLen Beadell got his passion for the bush during childhood camping trips and, upon joining the scouts in Sydney, was taken under the wing of a troop leader who was surveyor by trade and took his charges on weekend work trips.
The skills he acquired served Len well during WII and his post-war life surveying and building major road projects across the outback.
