Today’s ABS Building approvals have confirmed once again that Tasmania’s building and construction industry continues to perform strongly across the residential and non-residential sectors.

There were 300 building approvals in November 2021, in seasonally adjusted terms, which was 40.8 per cent higher than the October 2021 figure.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is investing an unprecedented $615 million into social and affordable housing, and homelessness initiatives, to ensure that more Tasmanians have a place that they can call home, and these figures are underpinning Tasmania’s strong building sector.

Non-residential approvals remain buoyant, with over $57 million worth of approvals being recorded in November 2021 alone.  This is a great sign of confidence in the economy and the State and reflects the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s sound economic management.

The building and construction sector employs over 20,000 Tasmanians and is growing daily, further evidence that our plan to secure Tasmania’s future is working.
