Has enough funding been allocated to Inland Rail?

Cameron Simpkins has worked at the coalface of the Inland Rail development; he says he has had difficult conversations with landholders who question the planning, the development and the alignment of the massive rail line build.

A former senior project director on the development, he believes it’s not sufficiently funded to create a piece of nation building infrastructure; the scoping works were done too quickly and not thoroughly enough and some supporting works are not even on the table.

He says if the Inland Rail is to have the same good reputation and longevity as the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, it’s going to need people who are determined that it be done properly, who will insist on proper process.

“People like Joern Utzon,” he said.
