Mackey, center left, and Tabitha Denny, center right, unveil a plaque honoring the individuals and companies involved in the planning and construction of the Roswell Recreation and Aquatic Center Friday afternoon at the center, 1402 W. College Boulevard. Also pictured are former City Councilors Caleb Grant, left, and Steve Henderson, right. Mayor Dennis Kintigh said the plaque was a “celebration of political courage,” noting the city council at the time took a stand in passing a tax to fund the facility. “Emotions were running wild, feelings were hurt. Plans were not fully established and we had to make hard decisions,” Kintigh said. “Thank you for doing this for the future of Roswell.” The $20.2 million facility opened in 2019 and features indoor and outdoor pools, a gymnasium, multi-purpose rooms and fitness rooms.
